Recomendable.
We stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions. Twice on the hotel garden (city view) side and once on the road side (rose garden view). The road side has a lot of traffic and is VERY noisy particularly at night. The pre updated rooms were a good size and had a view. The staff were helpful and friendly. The meals in the restaurant were reasonably priced. In all we had a good stay at this centrally located establishment close to town and the motorway. The upgrade will have improved things but be aware of the traffic noise particularly on Friday and Saturday nights.
I have been here a few times, I come back because...the staff are great, they are really enthusiastic and very helpful, the rooms are clean, the parking is free, out of the city itself although 2mins drive or bus at door. It is not a 5 star Hotel but the service is great and the prices are every reasonable. My only negative is the restaurant. The meals from my last two visits have been poor. Most home cooks could do better... I will come back but if the chefs/cooks don't improve on the recipies I won't eat again from the restaurant.
This was a little hidden gem. If you are seeing a show at Vector Arena, this is a GREAT place to stay! It is close enough by taxi, or if you like a nice walk, you can walk to Vector. The hotel is located across the street from the Rose Gardens, and off of the main road (Quay) so not noisy. The restaurant serves a big buffet breakfast at a great value. Staff was very courteous and friendly. This is not luxury, but good value and a good location and clean. I will definitely stay here again!
Very helpful staff - they arranged rooms so we might be with our children next door. Very good breakfast - both continental and hot - prices varies for type, adults and children (unusual), so it is not worth to book with breakfast included. Swimming pool nice, but one end very deep - 2,4m - children must be really supervised. Hop on-hop off bus stop is just next to the hotel, near Rose Park (this was main reason why we pick it up), so it is good place to start Auckland exploration. Quiet area, slightly away off city, but well communicate by car and bus.Taxi to airport arranged by hotel - we were told it costs about 35NZD, but actually we paid over 50NZD, but there is no other option to get there. Rooms and especially bathrooms needs some renovation
Good location. If you book a twin room it says it has double beds. They aren't! They are king singles so not suitable for sharing. The rooms don't have air conditioning so get hot in summer. Really needs a renovation. Value wise it's not expensive.
Stayed for 1 night only and had 2 rooms in different areas of the complex. The service was excellent, rooms were spotless and beds comfortable. Unfortunately we had a room on the second floor that had a sliding door that faced the road. As there was no air conditioning we really needed the door open but the road noise was terrible hence no sleeping in! I would stay again however I would request a room away from the road. The couple with us stayed were very happy with there room as it was located at the back area of the complex.
We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times while in Auckland. The rooms are spacious & clean but the decor is fairly dated. Staff are very helpful. It is a 20-30 minute walk to the cbd (downhill), or a few minutes on the 703 bus from britomart. There is a lovely place for breakfast or lunch called the rose hip cafe on the same street, just a couple of doors away!
This is not my first time staying in this hotel. I am often happy with the price and location. If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Complimentary parking also save you some cost. In term of location, it is near to New Market eating place and shopping street. The room size is big enough for family of 2 adults and one child. Generally clean. I will be back again.
I have stayed here often, a basic cheap hotel in a convenient location. But it's now under new management, no longer part of the Kingsgate Millennium chain. Much needed new carpets were being installed, the start of an overdue refurbishment I hope. I will stay again.
